Integrative & Supportive Therapy
Somatic psychotherapy is a journey of awareness and self compassion. Instead of telling or retelling your trauma story, we work together to explore how your lived experiences are held within your body and how they impact on your day-to-day life. This approach is a completely different model of therapy and one that allows for a great deal of individualized attention and support. The assumption is always that your body has wisdom and it is imperative to listen to body-based (somatic) messages in order to promote healing. My role is that of a facilitator, but you are always the greatest force in your personal journey, as you develop awareness of habitual patterns and practice compassion through the release of thought patterns/emotions that no longer serve you.
We work together is to build safety in the body through the use of nervous system regulation techniques. Once secure with this capacity, we then explore ways to facilitate somatic awareness through connection with the body. This is important because often people have learned different ways to freeze, block out, or disconnect from these sensations. The goal is to tend and befriend all body sensations and thought patterns including those associated with chronic pain, numbness, or emotional discomfort. There are many creative and personalized ways we explore somatic awareness and nervous system system regulation, including: breathwork, creative arts, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), guided visualization, movement/yoga, relational bodywork, and Somatic Experiencing techniques.
Somatic psychotherapy work could include regular texts/emails, home visits, accompanying you to doctor appointments, or even taking nature walks together. It's all based on what each person needs - and no one is treated as a number. My EMDR and somatic psychotherapy sessions are offered in the evenings, with appointments at either 4:30, 6:00, or 7:30. There is a waiting list of about 4-6 weeks. My current psychotherapy session rate is $250/session, because I only take on a few clients and offer them highly personalized services. It's similar to a concierge mental health approach, however I do not charge a monthly fee. Often clients connect with me on a monthly or bimonthly basis. Unfortunately, I can not accept insurance payments, though you can sometimes bill back to your insurance company for partial reimbursement. In the Fall of 2026, I am hoping to add some group somatic classes to the schedule (please inquire about a waitlist for this).
As a client of Somatic Psychology Services, you receive the benefit of my educational background and experience: NYS licensed psychologist, EMDR provider, registered yoga teacher, somatic movement educator, and somatic experiencing practitioner (SEP); but you also receive a bit of my heart. I am committed to this work because a genuine love for people and strong belief that somatic work is life changing. There is no greater joy than helping people learn about themselves, find lightness and expansiveness in their daily lives, and transform pain into freedom as they become the highest expression of their personal selves.
